Windy Weather

So... does this scene look somewhat familiar?
Today has been very windy by Vancouver standards (and averagely windy by Wellington standards) and we came home to find another tree had blown over.

You may remember that while we were in NZ last year one of the trees lining our street blew over, demolishing our gate and part of the neighbours' roof. This time there was no damage except to the tree itself. Strangely enough, Trevor (our landlord) had just braced a tree in the back yard that had been bending under the weight of its leaf canopy, but had thought nothing of the trees in the front!
This time, Jackson helped trim the leaves as Trevor snapped branches, and we managed to fit most of the tree in two 'yard trimmings' bins. The trunk will be dealt with in the next couple of days.

We're hoping this is the last mini-disaster to befall our place for a while! The neighbours suffered a fire a few months after the first tree damaged their roof and now this tree is the third major event. We don't think we live in a dangerous place, but you may want to keep your wits about you if you're visiting us on a windy day. :o)
